The financial regulations of the Association of the Lycée français René Cassin d’Oslo (LFO) apply to students and their legal guardians from preschool to high school for the 2023/24 school year. They apply from the time the pre-registration file is sent. This regulation was adopted by vote of the management board on January 12, 2023. It is available for consultation on the LFO website. In case of disagreement with the institution, the French version prevails.
The LFO sends invoices and any reminders by email. We consider that the information provided by the families when enrolling students is up-to-date. It is the responsibility of the families to check that all contact information is correct and to transmit any changes to the institution.
The Payment Schedule:
Tuition and study fees are billed in 5 installments (September, November, January, March and May: invoices for 2 months of tuition). Other fees may be billed separately, LFO does not issue monthly invoices.
Payment Terms:
Any invoice will be sent 15 days before the due date.
Payment from Norway is made to the DNB account 7877.08.28502 using a «KID number». For payments from abroad use the IBAN: NO0878770828502 and BIC: DNBANOKKXXX.
Transaction fees are the responsibility of the payer. The invoice number and the student’s name must be indicated on the transfer. To facilitate invoice payment, LFO has set up an automatic debit service accessible from all Norwegian banks: AVTALEGIRO. It is the responsibility of the payer to initiate AVTALEGIRO with their own bank. AVTALEGIRO only applies to the 5 tuition/study fee invoices. Other invoices must be paid manually.
Sending a copy of each invoice in paper format will be charged 600 NOK. The production of a payment certificate will be charged 600 NOK per certificate to the applicant.
In case of difficulty paying, it is the responsibility of the families to contact the institution’s management service to establish a possible contractual payment schedule.
Unless otherwise stated by a court decision communicated to the LFO by the legal guardians of the child, these are jointly and severally liable for the debts towards the school.
Re-enrollment Terms:
A month of tuition fees will be paid each year in March (year N) for students from grade 1 to grade 10, to confirm re-enrollment for the following year. This amount will be deducted from the first invoice of the following school year. The terms of any possible refund are specified in paragraph 3.5.
A first reminder, in the event of non-payment by the due date indicated on the invoice, will be communicated by e-mail to the payer granting an additional period of 15 days.
A second reminder will be made by e-mail with invoicing of a penalty of 210 NOK granting an additional period of 15 days.
In the event of non-payment at the end of the second reminder and without information received from the payer, the unpaid invoices will be automatically transmitted to our collection office which will proceed with the collection according to the laws in force. Payment will then be made to this collection company.
The consequences of non-payment on student education: during the school year, the LFO management reserves the right to no longer guarantee access to lessons for the students concerned and will in no way be held responsible for the situation. It will be the responsibility of the legal representatives to ensure their duties and the registration of their child(ren) in another establishment.
In the event of prolonged debt or financial litigation during the year (N), the Management reserves the right not to prioritize the re-enrollment of the student for year N+1, or even not to re-enroll the student the following school year. The establishment will not be held responsible for the situation.
In the event of unsubscription during the school year, including for studies, the notice is 3 months from the date of receipt of the information notified in writing to the following addresses: secretariat@lfo.no for the level secondary and ecole@lfo.no for the primary level. This period applies for tuition fees as well as for other paid services. In the event of departure, the exeat (certificate of cancellation) will be issued by the LFO by e-mail after payment of the invoices.
Pupils admitted during the school year depending on the places available are charged tuition fees from the date of entry fixed with the LFO and entered on the registration form on Eduka.
Families whose tuition fees are paid for by a third party (company, ascendant, etc.) must provide a written certificate from the payer showing the fees covered and the various contact details of the payer. In the absence of information to the contrary, the third party will be charged school and study fees and the families ancillary costs. In the event of departure, the exeat will be issued by the LFO after payment of the invoices by the third party.
In the event of a billing error, the management department may make an adjustment over the following periods.
Application fees corresponding to the examination of the file by our services do not guarantee a place at the LFO and are not refundable. Amounting to 2,500 NOK, they must be paid at the same time as filling in the online pre-registration form. They are capped at NOK 5,000 per family.
The pre-registration file will only be processed upon receipt of payment. Payment from Norway, which must specify the name of the student concerned, is made to the DNB account 7877.08.28502. For payments from abroad use IBAN: NO0878770828502 and BIC: DNBANOKKXXX. A receipt can be issued on request.
Pupils already registered in N-1 in preschool at the LFO will be subject to the payment of a fee of 5,000 NOK when they go to CP, which corresponds to the application and first registration fees.
A security deposit of 2,600 NOK must be paid once the place has been allocated for children from preschool to 12th grade. The payer will be reimbursed the security deposit without calculation of interest when the child leaves, subject to payment of all tuition and other fees.
The payer is asked at the time of departure to send the establishment the bank details to be used for reimbursement.

This system is mandatory for all. The families concerned must pay their financial participation.
Students’ participation in educational trips and/or activities organized by the LFO will result in a billing to families.
Educational and logistical materials are graciously loaned to your child. They are obligated to return this material in good condition at the end of the year. Any damage or loss of material will result in a billing.
It should be noted that the fee associated with entry badges on the Vulkan site is 150 NOK. Any intentional or unintentional damage of material by the student will be investigated and may be subject to billing.
French students enrolled at the LFO may be eligible for financial aid from the French government (school scholarships) under certain income conditions. Applications are processed by the scholarship commission within the French Embassy in Oslo. The decision to grant scholarships is made by the national scholarship commission in Paris.
For new students applying for scholarships, the application form can be downloaded from the website of the French Embassy. Tuition fees will be due in full until a decision is made by the national scholarship commission.
After notification, the tuition fees will be adjusted to take into account the scholarships for the entire school year.
Sibling moderation «søskenmoderasjon»
Families are eligible for «Søskenmoderasjon» (reduced rate supported by the Oslo municipality) when two or more children from the same family are in preschool at the LFO or in any other «barnehage» in the Oslo municipality.
Please inform the management service if you have an older child enrolled in another preschool/barnehage than ours.
Reduced rate
Families with total annual income below a threshold set by the Oslo municipality can benefit from a reduced rate. The amount of the reduced rate is calculated by the municipality. It is the responsibility of the legal representatives to initiate the process with the Oslo municipality. For French families, this request must be made before the application for French state scholarship. Tuition fees will be due in full until a notification decision by the municipality which will result in an adjustment of the billing.

Tuition fees for preschool and primary education may qualify for a tax deduction per child for tax payers in Norway. The amount is capped.
The school submits a tax declaration each year to the Norwegian authorities of the amounts invoiced (for each payer in Eduka) per calendar year. It is essential to properly inform your «personnummer» / Norwegian identification number in Eduka to benefit from it. Parents can declare them themselves in their tax return by downloading them.
You can find out about this tax provision on the following site:
High school students (seconde, première, terminale) can benefit under certain conditions from aid from the Norwegian State (Lånekassen) if the legal representatives are taxed in Norway and nationals of the European Economic Area.
At the end of school year N-1, the LFO sends the relevant forms to the pupils concerned and to their legal representatives. It will then be up to the family to send these at the beginning of year N to the head of the LFO establishment who will retransmit them to the Lånekassen organisation.
