This Friday, March 5, 2021, our first and last year students had the chance to meet the sociologist and professor at Paris-Dauphine Céline Bessière. Mrs Bessière gave us two hours of videoconferencing to discuss her work as a teacher-researcher and present the genesis and results of her work (co-written with Sibylle Gollac, researcher at the CNRS) The genre of capital, how the family reproduces inequalities (La Découverte 2020).
The discussions were rich and took place in a relaxed atmosphere. The final year students were connected remotely while the first year students were able to attend the video conference together in the basement of the french institute building. The students of the culture club for the High School Book Prize in Economics and Social Sciences had prepared many questions to which the sociologist responded with good humor, providing very good explanations.
A podcast will be released very soon to share with all of you this event. Time during the meeting was also devoted to the presentation of the pursuit of studies at the University PSL-Paris-Dauphine. We warmly thank Mrs Bessière for her availability
