As part of the Francophonie Festival, the Lycée Français d’Oslo organized a new edition of its Reading Marathon, a day dedicated to reading aloud and sharing literature.
Throughout the day, students took turns reading stories, poems and literary excerpts to their classmates and to viewers following the livestream online. Several guests also took part in the event, including Francophone ambassadors, diplomatic representatives, the COCAC and the Head of School.
The participating classes presented a wide variety of readings exploring themes such as the Francophone world, discrimination, love, poetry written by women, as well as utopian and speculative literature.
Reading aloud helps students develop many skills: pronunciation, concentration, text comprehension, oral confidence and public speaking abilities. This marathon was also an opportunity to celebrate the French language through a diversity of voices, accents and perspectives.
Broadcast live throughout the day, the event gathered around 350 online viewers.
A big thank you to all the students, teachers, guests and staff members who contributed to this wonderful day of reading and sharing around the Francophone world.
