At the start of the year, the 6th-grade students at LFO went on a trip to Telemark with their teachers. This trip gave them the opportunity to get to know each other better and build bonds as they began middle school together.
They all live in Oslo but come from different backgrounds and cultures. Through various activities, they discovered what they have in common and learned to work as a team.
Hiking, canoeing, and laser tag encouraged them to help one another and tackle challenges. Science activities allowed them to observe nature, better understand ecosystems, and explore the microscopic world. They also drew, made pottery, sang, and danced—all opportunities to express themselves and share their talents.
In the evenings, students and teachers gathered for games and discussions. They listened to stories around the fire in a lavvo, a traditional Norwegian shelter. It was another way to discover Norwegian culture.
These days spent together strengthened bonds and helped everyone find their place in the group. These are wonderful memories to start their first year of middle school.
