Exploring the Challenges of Cybersecurity and International Defense
Recently, our students had the opportunity to meet two French military professionals engaged in strategic missions, offering them insights into essential topics: cybersecurity and the role of NATO in global security.
As part of their Digital Sciences and Technology (SNT) course, the 10th-grade students interacted with Adjutant Chief Thomas, a French Army non-commissioned officer and cybersecurity expert with NATO. During this interactive session, they learned about the risks posed by computer viruses, phishing, and the importance of creating strong passwords. Practical advice and real-life anecdotes from his professional experience captured the students’ attention, raising their awareness of responsible digital practices.
Meanwhile, in their History-Geography class, 12th-grade students attended a presentation by Colonel Borde, who explained NATO’s role, its missions, and the contemporary geopolitical challenges it faces. The session offered a deeper understanding of how the organization operates, its critical role in international cooperation, and France’s involvement in this alliance.
These complementary sessions provided students with a global perspective, linking individual security through responsible digital practices to collective security upheld by international institutions.
A heartfelt thank you to Adjutant Chief Thomas and Colonel Borde for their enriching interventions, as well as to the teachers who helped organize these valuable learning experiences.
