Francophonie Week in Preschool and Elementary school

Francophonie Week in preschool: “Dis-moi dix mots pour la planète” (Tell me ten words for the planet)

For the Semaine de la Francophonie, our preschool students explored the richness of the French language through the “Dis-moi dix mots” operation, a wonderful invitation to play with words and open up to the imaginary.

This year’s theme, “Dis-moi dix mots pour la planète” (“Tell me ten words for the planet”), featured ten words linked to nature, the environment and our living world: biome, butiner, canopée, conséconscient, débrousser, empreinte, glaner, palmeraie, solaire and vivant.

Throughout the week, students discovered each of these words with curiosity and enthusiasm. Through drawing, games, stories and collective creations, they brought these sometimes new, always poetic words to life.

The result? A beautiful, colorful exhibition in the preschool corridors, where each word is accompanied by a visual interpretation or a short text. A playful and sensitive way of discovering the language, while awakening ecological awareness at an early age.

And at elementary school: a journey to the heart of French-speaking cultures

For the Francophonie week, elementary school pupils celebrated the French language in all its forms, through a variety of activities combining cultural discovery, reading, listening and sharing.

CP to CE2: set course for the French-speaking world!
Pupils explored different countries where French is spoken through an exhibition of nine large paintings installed in the BCD. In small groups, they proudly presented their panels and told us about the specific features of their French-speaking country. A wonderful invitation to travel!

CM2: reading as a bridge between classes
CM2 pupils became “champions of reading aloud” by reading extracts from works by French-speaking authors to their Cycle 2 classmates. Each reading was preceded by a brief presentation of the author and his or her background. It was a wonderful moment of sharing between young and old.

At the BCD: immersion in the French-speaking world
Throughout the week, the classes also took part in active listening sessions, accompanied by a fun quiz on the French-speaking world. A great way to learn more while having fun!

A week rich in discoveries, which enabled everyone to better understand the diversity and beauty of the French-speaking world. Well done to all the students and teachers for their commitment!
