LFO Wins the Oslo Schools Chess Tournament

The Oslo School Chess Championship brought together 247 participants over two days, including 210 children and 37 youth players. Schools from across Oslo competed in teams of four players, up to grade 7 (5ème), for the title of Oslomester for Skolelag.

The LFO has been participating in this competition for the past four years, previously achieving strong results with 4th and 5th place finishes. This year marks a major milestone!

This year, three teams proudly represented the school:

  • Team Dragoss Bleu: Tim (CM2), Alexander (5ème), Leon (CM2), Liam (CE2)

  • Team Blanc: Ludvik (CM2), Edvard (CM2), Nicole (CE2), Liam (CE1), Lillian (CE1)

  • Team Rouge: Magnus (CM2), Theodore (CM1), Theodore (CM1), Léon Wiborg (CM1), Max (CE1), joined by a guest player from another school on Sunday

All three teams performed very well, facing strong opponents and demonstrating commitment, focus, and team spirit throughout the tournament.

We are especially proud to announce that Team Dragoss Bleu achieved first place in the championship. After nine intense rounds against high-level competition, they secured the top position, a remarkable achievement and a first for the French School.

In addition, one of our teams earned second place in the mixed team category, highlighting strong collaboration with players from another school.

The third team finished in the middle of the standings, which remains a very solid and commendable result in such a competitive field.

Congratulations to all the students for their dedication, maturity, and exemplary sportsmanship throughout the event!

Following this success, Team Dragoss Bleu has qualified for the National School Chess Championship, which will take place in Bergen from April 24 to 26. We hope they will have the opportunity to travel and represent the school at the national level.

Congratulations to all our players!
