End of the coding sequence for Grade 8: the robots take the stage!
To wrap up their learning sequence on flowchart-based coding in style, our Grade 8 students took on a major challenge: the “Sumo Robots” competition!
The goal? Build and program robots capable of pushing their opponents out of a ring — just like sumo wrestlers!
Each team had to harness their creativity and logic to design complex programs, integrating contact sensors, line detectors, ultrasonic sensors, and of course, the motors — the real muscles behind these little mechanical sumos.
Every robot had to reflect a carefully planned strategy, imagined and developed by the group to outsmart their rivals.
The matches were intense, the cheering loud, and there were plenty of twists and turns. In the end, the winners’ podium looked like this:
🥉 3rd place: Zacharie, Sara, Strom
🥈 2nd place: Alycia, Liv, Nicolas
🥇 1st place: Colette, Clémence, Sofia
A big congratulations to all for your commitment, teamwork, and the quality of your programming!
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the snack table — special shoutout to Egil for the cake — and of course, thank you to Mr. Daram for leading the project! 🫶
