At the end of January, our students in 4eme were able to attend the performance “Vástádus eana – The answer is land”, a show mixing dance and joik (traditional Sami song) to express awareness of the Earth, the sharing of it between everyone and the importance of living together.
A strong concept allowing this performance to receive the Critics Award for best dance show in 2022.
The choreographer Elle Sofe Sara draws inspiration from Sami traditions, spiritual practices and activism to set up a resolutely feminist show, on the border between contemporary dance and traditional dance.
The costumes are also inspired by the Sami tradition as well as the scenography, this one reinforced by the music of Frode Fjellheim, famous Sami composer from the south.
With this visit and discovery, our students continue to familiarize themselves with the culture of our host country while strengthening their knowledge of the Sami people and culture.
