Visit at the Science department of UiO

On 18th January, our science patron, volcanologist Olivier Galland, welcomed the 4th year pupils to discover the physics department at the University of Oslo/ Fysisk institutt, Universitetet i Oslo.

Accompanied by their technology, physics-chemistry and life and science science teachers, the group was able to meet researchers at the heart of their laboratories. The meeting provided a rich opportunity for discussion, perfectly illustrating the diversity and complementary nature of scientific disciplines.

Our careers advisor was also present for the morning, and was able to promote the discovery of the professional world.

The scientists present appreciated the pupils’ curiosity and the quality of the discussions, in a wide range of languages. Many thanks to them:

  • Nigar Abbasova, a biophysics researcher who studies the physical behaviour of cancer cells.
  • Marcel Moura and Kevin Pierce, physics researchers doing fundamental research into fluid dynamics.
  • Coline Bouchayer, a researcher in physics applied to geology, who is studying the flow dynamics of glaciers.
  • Sonja Greiner and Olivier Galland, volcanologists seeking to understand the dynamics of volcanic eruptions.
