Visit of the “Gone West” exhibition for AMC Terminales

As part of the Anglais Monde Contemporain specialization, our Terminale students explored the exhibition “Gone West – Dream of a Better Life in America” at the National Library. The exhibition focuses on Norwegian emigration to the United States between 1825 and 1930. Nearly 900,000 Norwegians left their country, driven by the hope of a better life: access to land, freedom, and the promise of a more prosperous future for themselves and their families.

This visit gave students a clearer understanding of the dreams, challenges, and journeys of these pioneers. It also helped them grasp how these migration movements contributed to shaping today’s societies and the history of the United States.
